It’s time to have your say on the End of Life Choice Bill.
New Zealand citizens and permanent residents, living here or overseas, are now able to submit their stories and opinions on assisted dying and the End of Life Choice Bill to Parliament’s Justice Committee.
“75% of New Zealanders agree that our laws on assisted dying need to change,” says ACT leader David Seymour.
“I called for the Select Committee stage of my Bill to be extended from the normal 6 month period to 9 months so that there is adequate time for everyone to have the opportunity to present their views to Parliament.”
“If you believe giving choice and compassion to those suffering from a terminal illness is the right thing to do, this is your chance to influence the development of this legislation and share why you think the Bill should progress.
“I look forward to hearing your personal stories and thoughts on the Bill.”
Submissions can be any length, must be delivered in writing, and can be presented in person at a later date.
The closing date for submissions is midnight on Tuesday, 20 February 2018.
